Nature Twirls on this City Girl

The city life has kept me sheltered from the wilderness. The sights and sounds of wildlife has always given me the jitters lol. So you wouldn’t be surprised if I told you this was a spontaneous trip to Patapsco Valley State Park. The trails were steep and dusty going down to the river. I was more so concerned about loosing my fringe purse lol then actually tumbling down the hill. I must say once I finished the trail the view was so worth it. While I was not prepared dress wise for this trip, I was ready to brace the unknown of wildlife and work with what I was wearing. I was lucky I wore a heavy bright sweater to keep me warm from the periodic breeze and to ward off hungry mountain lions lol. The black liquid motorcycle leggings helped with hiking back up the steep hills. If I had worn skinny jeans I would not have been able to make it back up lol. Thank goodness I did not have on heels that day, instead I had on my trusty military boots.  On days I want to be casual and give myself a break from heels, I love sporting my military boots for a rugid, but feminine look. The best thing about the end of the trial..Why snagging a kiss of course lol. (Sweater-Forever 21, Leggings-Boutique in Queens, NY, Shoes-UrbanOG, and Purse-H &M)

Shopaholic City Tour Takeover – Taking Over the Fashion World by Storm

Along with aspiring to be a successful blogger, I also spend my time working as the Creative Director for Shopaholic City alongside one of my best friends that I consider family, CEO/Owner Latteia Whitaker. As a new upcoming online boutique that is steadily making a brand all over the U.S., Shopaholic City first launched a “Sip and Shop” event in Washington D.C. at the Anacostia Arts Center during the middle of an ice storm, which proved that this was a business ready to show the fashion world what it has to offer no matter the unexpected roadblocks. The turnout was a huge success!  From there, we held another successful event in the nation’s capital at Dirty Martini.

Next, we hit the road to the Atlanta and participated in the Bailey Agency School of Fashion. With a guest list packed with reality TV stars and up and coming music artists, the event gave the ATL an introduction of what Shopaholic City had to offer. Our team felt both blessed and humbled that we were given the greenlight to hold this amazing event at The Cynthia Bailey School of Fashion

Shopaholic City then shut down the Charlotte, NC on November 20, 2015 when we held a highly successful runway fashion event that knocked everyone’s heels off.  With the help of a celebrity guest host and various prominent sponsors, Shopaholic City could not be where it’s at without the support of our loyal buyers and business partners.

Here are some throwback photos of the birth of Shopaholic City and how it has transformed…..

Where will Shopaholic City wind up next?  Well fashionistas, you will have to stay tuned to find out! We thank you for all of your loyal support!  Please visit us at  www.shopaholiccity.com for the latest fashion trends and upcoming events!

When I Grow Up I Want to be an Accessorized Lumberjack

Let me start off by saying I was never really into plaid prior to this fall season. The one thing I never wanted to be associated with was wearing a print that I felt was left for the masculine culture to dominate. I always pictured strong hard-working lumber jacks wearing plaid while chopping wood (That just sounded like I’m trying to write for play girl lol and not that there is nothing wrong with watching a man chop wood lol ) My apologies for fantasying and trailing off from the root of this write up (focus girl) Ok..lol , so I told myself I wouldn’t be caught in a million years wearing such a shirt. I’m far from tomboyish and avoided over the years wearing anything that overshadowed my girly edge.

That has all gone down the drain. I’m officially obsessed with plaid. Who would have thought a style that was once so masculine can now be worn through various styles that can also show a feminine side. Plaid has been one of my ultimate trends to play around with this season.  From pairing plaid shirts with accessories  such as Egyptian bib necklaces, fedora hats (My boy George Denise Huxtable hat lol), rings and to adding other fall layers such as fur vests. I can say that my occupation in pursuing to become an accessorizing edgy lumberjack is a dream come true. Check out my cutie-on dutie daughter Alauna making a cameo appearance! She is truly entertaining and a ball of engery!! Love her to pieces!!

I’m Falling for Fall!

While I’m missing the summertime, fall is starting off to be a great season to play around with many fun fashion trends. From sweater cardigans to riding boots, I can’t get enough of the variety that the season brings!

Let’s jump right into some of my favorite fall trends this season: Long sweater cardigans are truly becoming one of my favorites this season. I love the versatility and style that it brings to an ordinary outfit. I wore my fabulous Arizona Jeans sweater from JCPenny (yes… JCPenny, lol) with a fitted black dress courtesy of shopaholiccity.com and leopard pumps from Shoe Dazzle. I also wore it with distressed jeans (H&M jeans that I ripped up myself) and a simple yellow long sleeve tee (not pictured).

For a while, I have been hunting around for my other must-have – a pair of the PERFECT riding boots.  I’m extremely/crazily/ridiculously selective when it comes to riding boots – mainly because it’s hard to find boots that are of good quality. Either the leather is so thin or squishy or the material just isn’t up to par.  Other times the boot length is too short on my leg and I prefer taller boots. Sometimes it feels like a curse that I have expensive taste because the boots that normally do meet my expectations are over $1000 (i.e. Ralph Lauren, lol). So when I went into Zara and saw these babies, I had to grab them (I also snagged some work heels, which was a bonus)!  They were only $90 bucks. I said to myself, “oh yes….where is the nearest mirror so I can try these babies on RIGHT NOW”, lol.  As soon as I put them on, I instantly fell in love!  The boots fit my legs perfectly and they made me feel like I can easily sit in for a Ralph Lauren stable photo shoot. OK, so I may be dreaming a little, lol. But I must say I’m very satisfied with my purchase after weeks of hunting. Fall…. I’m truly falling for you!
